Meitei's Food history

The chronicles contain ample evidence of the change in the diet of the Meiteis/Meetei section.These changes were due to the introduction of Hinduism .The earlier Reigns seemed to have feasted large and enjoy some  spirituous drinks.They lived in the hills.After the introduction and adoption of Hinduism their diet changed. The adoption of Hinduism not only  banned from eating meats but also they now  began to follow some restrictions and rules. Animal flesh and spirituous liquor were accursed.
Fish is eaten and is  common.Rice was the staple food. ( Incomplete and will be updated soon)
